Before You Begin
The Claude Analytics connector pulls per-user activity and aggregated usage summaries from the Anthropic Analytics API into Section. This lets you report on Claude engagement alongside your other workforce data for a unified view of AI adoption. An IT admin needs to enable Analytics API access and generate a key so Section can query your organization.
What you'll need:
- An Anthropic organization on the Enterprise plan
- An account with the Primary Owner role (Admin is not sufficient)
- Analytics API access toggled on at claude.ai → Analytics → Analytics API → Access by a Primary Owner
Note: Anthropic's Analytics API has an inherent 3–4 day data delay — metrics in PAIR will reflect activity from a few days prior, not real-time usage.
Enable the Admin API Key for Your Organization:
Generate a dedicated API key that PAIR will use to read your organization's usage summaries.
- Navigate to Analytics → Analytics API → API keys, or open claude.ai/analytics/api-keys directly.
- Click + Create button.
- Enter a recognizable name for the key, for example
pair-ai-connector. - Confirm the key includes the following scopes:
read:analyticsread:memberswrite:membersread:spend_limitswrite:spend_limitsread:rbac_groupswrite:rbac_groups
- Click Create to finalize.
Analytics API keys are org-owned — they continue working even if your organization later removes the creator's account. Rate limits apply at the organization level, so reusing one key across tools is safe.
Copy and Save API Key
Capture the generated key and paste it into PAIR to complete the connection.
Important: Anthropic shows the key only once at creation time. If you close the dialog before copying it, delete the key and create a new one.
- In the Create key confirmation dialog, click the Copy icon next to the key value.
- Paste the key into the field below, then save your changes in PAIR.
Value to copy: Copy the full key string from the Anthropic Create key confirmation dialog. Paste it into the Analytics API Key field.
